Reconstruction of the
2020 Barbury Castle formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the circumscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, with the mid-point of one side coincident with the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline.

3. Construct the circumscribed circle of dodecagon 2.

4. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, passing through the righthand angular point of dodecagon 2 adjacent to the top.

5. Copy circle 4 to the center of circle 1.

6. Construct a circle concentric to circle 4, tangent to circle 3 at the upper side.

7. Copy circle 6 to the upper intersection of circle 5 and the vertical centerline.

8. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 7 at the upper side.

9. Copy circle 6 to the upper intersection of circle 8 and the vertical centerline.

10. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 9 at the upper side.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 4, tangent to circle 10 at the upper side.

12. Construct the inscribed dodecagon of circle 1, pointing up.

13. Copy circle 11 eleven times, to the other angular points of dodecagon 12.

14. Construct the circumscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the right.

15. Construct the circumscribed circle of hexagon 14.

16. Copy circle 6 to the upper intersection of circle 15 and the vertical centerline.

17. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 16 at the lower side.

18. Circles 1, 3, 5, 8, 11, 13, 15, and 17, are used for the final reconstruction.

19. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

20. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

21. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2020 Barbury Castle formation.

22. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
