Reconstruction of the
2017 Cheesefoot Head formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed regular 18-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing to the right. Number the angular points clockwise 1 - 18, starting at the top.

3. Draw the connecting line between angular point (of polygon 2) nr. 13 and the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline.

4. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 3.

5. Draw the connecting line between angular point nr. 12 and the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline.

6. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 5.

7. Draw two rays of polygon 2, from the center of circle 1 to angular points nrs. 1 and 18.

8. Draw the connecting line between angular points nrs. 4 and 14.

9. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of line 8 and the vertical centerline, passing through the intersections of rays 7 and circle 6.

10. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, tangent to the upper side of polygon 2.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 10 at the upper side.

12. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 1, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline. See detail.

13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at the lefthand side.

14. Copy circle 10 to angular point nr. 18.

15. Construct a line tangent to circle 13 at the lefthand, and to circle 14 at the righthand side.

16. Repeat step (14 and) 15 seventeen times, with respect to the other angular points of polygon 2, as shown.

17. Repeat step 3 seventeen times, with respect to the other angular points of polygon 2, as shown.

18. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 13 and the vertical centerline, passing through the intersections of circle 13 and rays 7.

19. Copy circle 18 two times, to the intersections of line 15 with circle 6, and with the upper side of polygon 2. See detail.

20. Construct a line parallel to line 15, tangent to circles 19 at the lefthand sides.

21. Repeat step (19 and) 20 seventeen times, with respect to the other angular points of polygon 2, as shown.

22. Circles 4, 6, 9, and 11, and lines 3, 15, 16, 17, 20, and 21, are used for the final reconstruction.

23. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

24. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

25. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2017 Cheesefoot Head formation.

26. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
