Reconstruction of the
2017 Atherington formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the circumscribed square of circle 1, with horizontal and vertical sides.

3. Copy circle 1 to the upper righthand angular point of square 2.

4. Copy circle 1 three more times, to the other angular points of square 2.

5. Construct a circle concentric to circle 3, tangent to circle 1 at the upper righthand side.

6. Copy circle 5 three times, to the centers of circles 4.

7. Construct the inscribed square of circle 1, pointing up.

8. Construct a circle concentric to circle 3, tangent to the upper righthand side of square 7.

9. Copy circle 8 three times, to the centers of circles 4.

10. Draw four rays, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points of square 2, and extend these rays.

11. Copy circle 8 to its upper righthand intersection with ray 10, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own corresponding intersection.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 11.

13. Copy circle 11 three times, to the other intersections of circle 12 and rays 10.

14. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 3 at the lower lefthand side.

15. Construct the inscribed square of circle 14, with the angular points on rays 10.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 3, passing through the mid-point of the upper side of square 15.

17. Copy circle 16 three times, to the centers of circles 4.

18. Copy circle 16 to the center of circle 1.

19. Construct a circle centered at the upper lefthand intersection of circles 11 and 16, tangent to circle 3 at the upper side.

20. Construct a circle concentric to circle 11, tangent to circle 19 at the lefthand side.

21. Copy circle 20 three times, to the centers of circles 13.

22. Copy circle 20 to its upper righthand intersection with ray 10, and move this circle to its own corresponding intersection.

23. Copy circle 22 three times, by repeating step 22 three times with respect to circles 21 and the other rays 10, as shown.

24. Construct a circle concentric to circle 22, tangent to circle 11 at the upper righthand side.

25. Copy circle 24 three times, to the centers of circles 23.

26. Copy circle 24 to the center of circle 11.

27. Copy circle 26 three times, to the centers of circles 13.

28. Copy circle 19 to the upper lefthand intersection of circles 12 and 26.

29. Construct a circle concentric to circle 11, tangent to circle 28 at the lefthand side.

30. Copy circle 29 seven times, to the centers of circles 13, 22, and 23.

31. Copy circle 19 to the upper lefthand intersection of circle 29 and the upper righthand circle 30.

32. Construct a circle concentric to circle 22, tangent to circle 31 at the lefthand side.

33. Copy circle 32 three times, to the centers of circles 23.

34. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 28 at the lower side.

35. Copy circle 19 two times, the first to the upper intersection of circle 12 and the vertical centerline, the second to the corresponding intersection of the first.

36. Construct two circles concentric to circle 1, tangent to circles 35 at the upper sides.

37. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 22.

38. Copy circle 19 to the upper intersection of circle 37 and the vertical centerline.

39. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 38 at the lower side.

40. Circles 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37, and 39, are used for the final reconstruction.

41. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

42. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

43. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2017 Atherington formation.
