Reconstruction of the
2016 Gerlingerstraße (Germany) formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct two inscribed equilateral triangles of circle 1, one pointing up, one pointing down.

4. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the mutual intersections of triangles 3.

5. Construct a circle centered at the lower angular point of hexagon 2, tangent to circle 4 at the lower side.

6. Copy circle 5 five times, to the other angular points of hexagon 2.

7. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the center of circle 5 and its intersection (tangent point) with circle 4.

8. Copy circle 7 to the center of circle 1.

9. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 8 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 8 at the upper side.

10. Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 8, pointing up.

11. Copy circle 9 five times, to the other angular points of hexagon 10.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 5, tangent to circle 9 at the lower side.

13. Copy circle 12 to the center of circle 9.

14. Copy circle 12 five more times, to the centers of circles 6.

15. Copy circle 12 again five more times, to the centers of circles 11.

16. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circles 5 and 9.

17. For clarity reasons, some of the results of previous steps are temporarily removed.

Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 16.

18. Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 17, pointing down.

19. Copy circles 5 and 12 six times, to the angular points of hexagon 18.

20. Construct a "two-points" circle, between the center of circle 1 and the upper intersection of circle 13 and the vertical centerline.

21. Copy circle 20 six times, to the angular points of hexagon 2.

22. Circles 5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, and 21, are used for the final reconstruction.

23. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

23. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

25. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2016 Gerlingerstraße (Germany) formation.

26. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
