Reconstruction of the
2016 Ansty formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Copy circle 1 two times, to its righthand intersection with the horizontal, and its upper intersection with the vertical centerline.

3. Draw the connecting line between both intersections of circles 2.

4. Construct the inscribed square of circle 1, with one angular point on line 3.

5. Construct the inscribed circle of square 4.

6. Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 5, pointing to the right.

7. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the mid-point of the lower side and the lower righthand angular point of hexagon 6.

8. Copy circle 7 to the center of circle 1.

9. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 8, pointing to the left.

10. Copy circle 7 three times, to the angular points of triangle 9.

11. Create the shown pattern, by removing all redundant parts from circles 10.

12. Copy circle 7 three times, to the outer intersections of circles 10.

13. Construct a circle (concentric to circle 1), passing through the outer intersections of circles 10 and 12.

14. Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 13, pointing up.

15. Construct the inscribed circle of hexagon 14.

16. Copy circle 7 six times, to the outer intersections of circles 10 and 12.

17. Copy circle 7 six times, to the outer intersections of circles 16.

18. Copy circle 7 twelve times, to the outer intersections of circles 16 and 17.

19. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circles 18 at the inner sides.

20. Copy circle 7 six times, to the intersections of circles 18, nearest to the angular points of hexagon 6, as shown.

21. Copy circle 7 seventeen times, to the outer intersections of circles 18 and 20, except for the center of circle 7 itself.

22. Copy circle 7 six times, to the angular points of hexagon 6.

23. Copy circle 7 twenty-four times, to the outer intersections of circles 21 and 22.

24. Remove all redundant parts from circles 5, 7, 10, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23,...

25. ...to create the shown pattern.

26. Copy circle 5 three times, to the lefthand, upper righthand and lower righthand angular points of hexagon 6.

27. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 15 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 19 at the upper side.

28. Copy circle 27 to the center of circle 1.

29. Construct a circle concentric to the lefthand circle 26, tangent to circle 28 at the lefthand side.

30. Copy circle 29 two times, to the centers of the other circles 26.

31. Construct a circle enclosed by and tangent to the two righthand circles 16 and the two righthand circles 21, as shown.

32. Copy circle 31 to the center of circle 1.

33. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 31 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 32 at the lefthand side.

34. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 33.

35. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 34, pointing to the right.

36. Copy circle 33 two times, to the other two angular points of triangle 35.

37. Copy circle 27 to the righthand intersection of circle 33 and the horizontal centerline.

38. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 37 at the lefthand side.

39. Copy circle 27 to the righthand intersection of circle 37 and the horizontal centerline.

40. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 39 at the righthand side.

41. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 38 at the righthand side.

42. Copy circle 41 to the righthand intersection of circle 40 and the horizontal centerline.

43. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 42 at the lefthand side.

44. Construct a "two-points" circle between the righthand intersections of circles 38 and 43 with the horizontal centerline.

45. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 44.

46. Construct a "two-points" circle between the lefthand intersections of circles 40 and 43 with the horizontal centerline.

47. Copy circle 46 to the center of circle 1.

48. Construct two parallel lines, tangent to circles 46 and 47 at both sides. Extend these lines to the left upto circle 40.

49. "Isolate" the parts of lines 48 in between circles 40 and 43, as shown.

50. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 46.

51. Construct the inscribed regular 33-sided polygon of circle 50, pointing to the left.

52. Copy lines 49 as a whole thirty-two times, from the center of circle 46 to the other angular points of polygon 51, while rotating around the center of circle 1. See detail.

53. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of circles 36, tangent to circle 5 at the lefthand side.

54. Copy circle 53 to its righthand intersection with the horiontal centerline.

55. Draw the connecting line between the center of circle 1 and the righthand intersection of circle 54 and the horizontal centerline. Divide this line into five equal parts.

56. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 54 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the leftmost division-node 55.

57. Copy circle 56 two times, the first one to its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, the second one to the corresponding intersection of the first.

58. Copy circle 56 three times, the first one to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, the others consecutively to the corresponding intersections, as shown.

59. Copy circle 46 six times, to the centers of circles 56, 57, and 58.

60. Copy circle 27 to the center of circle 53.

61. Construct two circles concentric to and inside circles 36, tangent to circle 60.

62. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of the leftmost circle 59 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the upper righthand intersection of lefthand circle 57 and the lower circle 61.

63. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of the second from left circle 59 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the upper righthand intersection of the righthand circle 57 and the lower circle 61.

64. Copy circle 63 four times, to the corresponding intersections of the other four circles 59, as shown.

65. Draw two lines, from the lefthand intersection of circle 5 and the horizontal centerline, to the intersections of circle 47 and the vertical centerline.

66. Remove all redundant parts from circles 10, 36, 56, 57, 58, 62, 63, and 64, and lines 65, to create the shown pattern. Copy this pattern two times, while rotating around the center of circle 1 over plus and minus 120°.

67. Draw three connecting lines, from the center of circle 1, to the outer intersections of circles 10.

68. Circles 1, 15, 19, 26, 29, 30, 38, 40, 43, and 45, lines 49, 52, and 67, and patterns 11, 25, and 66, are used for the final reconstruction.

69. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

To complete the total diagram, the twenty "glyphs" inside the peripheral rings are, only schematically, copied - not reconstructed - directly from the aerial image.

70. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

71. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2016 Ansty formation.

72. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
