Reconstruction of the
2015 Winterbourne Stoke Down formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed regular 13-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing up. Number the angular points clockwise 1 - 13, starting at the top.

3. Draw the diagonal 2-10 of polygon 2 (between angular points 2 and 10).

4. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of line 3 and the horizontal centerline.

5. Draw the two rays nrs. 4 and 11 of polygon 2 (from the center to angular points 4 and 11).

6. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circle 4 and lines 5.

7. Draw ray nr. 2 of polygon 2.

8. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of line 6 and the vertical centerline, passing through the intersection of circle 4 and line 7.

9. Draw the connecting line between the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline and its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

10. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of lines 7 and 9.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of righthand line 5 and line 9.

12. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 11 at the righthand side.

13. Copy circle 12 to the righthand intersection of circle 10 and the horizontal centerline.

14. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 13 at the righthand side.

15. Draw diagonal 4-11 of polygon 2.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of lines 7 and 15.

17. Copy circle 16 two times, to its own upper and righthand intersections with the vertical and horizontal centerlines.

18. Draw the connecting line between the mutual intersections of circles 17.

19. Construct the inscribed square of circle 16, with one angular point at the intersection of circle 16 and line 18.

20. Draw four pairs of lines, from the four intersections of circle 14 and the horizontal and vertical centerlines, to the pairwise nearest angular points of square 19, as shown.

21. Draw two lines, from the lower intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, to the intersections of circle 16 and the horizontal centerline.

22. Draw two pairs of lines similar to lines 20, from the lefthand and righthand intersections of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, to the intersections of circle 16 and the vertical centerline.

23. Construct the inscribed regular 169-sided polygon (13 times 13!) of circle 1, pointing down. Number the angular points counterclockwise 1 - 169, starting at the lowest one.

24. Draw twenty-six rays of polygon 23, nrs. 1, 7, 14, 19, 27, 33, 40, 46, 54, 59, 66, 72, 79, 84, 92, 98, 106, 111, 118, 124, 131, 136, 143, 150, 158, and 163.

25. Circles 1, 4, 8, 10, 11, and 14, and lines 20, 21, 22, and 24, are used for the final reconstruction.

26. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

27. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

28. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2015 Winterbourne Stoke Down formation.

29. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
