Reconstruction of the
2015 Manton Drove formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the circumscribed regular 13-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, passing through the adjacent righthand angular point of polygon 2.

4. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 3 at the lower side.

5. Copy circle 3 to the upper intersection of circle 4 and the vertical centerline.

6. Draw two rays of polygon 2, from the center of circle 1 to the lefthand and righthand angular points just above the horizontal centerline. Extend both lines upto circle 4.

7. Copy circle 3 two times, to the intersections of lines 6 and circle 4.

8. Draw the ray of polygon 2 from the center of circle 1 to the upper righthand angular point next to the top. Extend this line upto the opposite side of circle 4.

9. Copy circle 3 to the intersection of line 8 and circle 4, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own righthand intersection with circle 4.

10. Construct the inscribed regular 13-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing up.

11. Draw the diagonal of polygon 10 connecting the top with the fifth angular point to the right, as shown, and repeat this for the twelve other corresponding pairs of angular points.

12. From the inner set of mutual intersections of diagonals 11, draw the connecting line between the upper one and the third one to the right, and repeat this for the twelve other corresponding pairs of intersections.

13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the inner set of intersections of lines 12.

14. Copy circle 13 to the center of circle 3.

15. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 3 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 14 at the lower side.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 15 at the upper side.

17. Circles 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 13 and 16, and lines 11, are used for the final reconstruction.

18. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

19. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

20. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2015 Manton Drove formation.

21. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
